What is Trash the Runway®?

Formerly known as Recycled Runway, Trash the Runway - Recycled Couture is an annual independent study workshop for students in grades 6-12 put on by the Common Threads Creative Lab. Participants design, troubleshoot & create original garments from found materials, as well as present them in a professional runway show & competition!

This is a not-to-be-missed event for the whole family & artists alike!

We LOVE supporting LOCAL NON-PROFITS! All show net-profits benefit Blue Sky Bridge, a local nonprofit child advocacy center whose mission is to foster safe communities, healing, and justice to end child abuse.

Common Threads Boulder presents

The 11th Annual TRASH THE RUNWAY show!

(Formerly Recycled Runway.)

Trash the Runway - Recycled Couture is a guided independent study that is held in the Common Threads Creative Lab. Over the course of six weeks, a juried selection of students in grades 6-12 design, trouble-shoot & create garments out of items that would have otherwise been tossed in the trash! These young designers transform everyday (or even super unique) difficult to recycle items & present to us the ultimate in unconventional challenges.

The main event is typically a highly-anticipated, professional runway show & competition, but this year we've gone virtual! The amazing garments couldn't go unseen... The teen designers & their hard work must be appreciated!
