Bio

Lucy believes in creating a world where everyone feels included and that they have the opportunity to thrive. Lucy is a public speaker and trainer on creating inclusive workplaces specifically regarding LGBTQIA+ folks. Lucy has co-founded and led a number of inclusion networks and activism groups across the voluntary sector including NAVCA’s anti racism network, and Charity So Straight - a campaigning group calling for charities to be more inclusive for LGBTQIA+ folks. Lucy ended her affiliation with Charity So Straight in April 2023 and subsequently began founding Proud Changemakers with three other volunteers from the LGBTQIA+ community and the voluntary sector.

Lucy is the Campaigns Manager for Brake, the road safety charity. Here Lucy leads on the charity’s national campaigns which can include calling for new legislation to support all road users, raising public awareness of road dangers or advocating for road crash victims. Lucy is responsible for creating and delivering the charity’s campaign strategy plus is one of the key media spokespeople.

Lucy began at Brake in January 2023. Before this Lucy was the Head of Communications at Tinnitus UK and the Policy and Communications Manager at NAVCA (the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action) amongst others. In total Lucy has more than 15 years experience of voluntary sector communications and campaigning.

In 2022, Lucy was awarded the Charity Times Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for their role in co-founding Charity So Straight and their work coordinating the volunteer response during the Covid-19 pandemic whilst working at NAVCA.
