Hello, I am Kev, I'm 51, married with two children, aged 6 and 10. I have work at Wickes for 15 years. I have been in DIY retail since the age of 15, so 36 years and love it. It's always changing and moving forward with developments.
I have a passion for developing people and creating the buzz and amazing teams. I actually use various tools and opportunities around me to develop the team. Two of those I use are the Wickes Community project. This is a facility we have available for us at Wickes to support local charities and groups in the areas of our stores. Each store has a budget to spend each year and we try to use this budget well to share around. Our product suppliers also often help us with this by donating free stock.
The second way is for me to engage my team of over 500 colleagues to come together to support a common goal and in this case it is Charity. We arrange various activities throughout the year, we get store sites to come together or the whole region of 21 stores will come together with bigger annual events. In 2024, we arranged for all stores to support a group of 22 to complete the UK 3 Peaks Challenge and fund raise in store raising over £10,000. The colleagues in stores did sponsored walks, cake, raffles and the like to help raise the money.
This session is essential for charity professionals, corporate partnership managers, and fundraising event planners looking to drive sustainable income and deeper corporate-charity collaboration.
