Asha is an elected official of the IWGB Charity Workers Branch, which represents and advocates for the rights of charity workers across the UK. In this voluntary role, she supports charity workers who want to organise in their workplaces, and provides advice to members who are facing problems at work. As a fundraiser by day, she understands the challenges faced by charities in the current funding climate, but believes that the third sector can and must lead the way in building workplaces where workers are valued and have a voice.
In this session, we’ll explore why increasing numbers of charity workers are unionising in order to tackle these problems together, and hear examples of where collective action has benefited not only workers, but the organisation as a whole.
