What Makes Us Stronger

In my session I talk about what I went through in 2017 and how to find a light in the darkest of places. I talk about my road to recovery and how I got back to the closest version of normality. I highlight the importance of love, courage and community. I talk about how I managed to raise almost £70,000 for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and about the amazing work that they do. I cover the topic of grief and the importance of talking about mental health.

I am 17 years old. When I was 14 I was seriously injured in the Manchester Arena Attack and lost my best friend, Nell. I spent 5 and 1/2 weeks in hospital where I was recovering from 29 separate injuries. I started straight after the attack raising money for the hospital that saved my life- Royal Manchester Children’s hospital. I also have raised money for the house that took care of my family whilst I was in hospital- Ronald McDonald House. I’ve raised almost £70,000 for the hospital, and will continue to fund raise for the rest of my life.
